Are you seeking outdoor learning opportunities for your students? Visit the Oregon Maple Project at Camp Colton to discover how students of all ages can participate in making maple syrup from native Bigleaf Maple trees. Come tour our maple sugaring operation, taste Bigleaf sap and syrup, and hike through the forest near our sugar shack.
Scheduled groups visit for 3-4 hours, enjoying an interactive presentation about Bigleaf Maple sugaring as well as a self-guided hike through forest learning stations. We spend all of our time outdoors, no matter the weather, so visitors are asked to come prepared with proper footwear and clothing. Peak sugaring season usually begins in December and lasts until March. We will open registration for the 2025/2026 season in the Fall. We also provide teacher resources and a bibliography to aid in classroom preparation for your field trip.
